Why a course for designing
professional welding jig?

Hi there, this is Alessandro!
I’m the main instructor of the course.

It’s 15 years (and counting..) that I’m designing welding jigs, helping customers to solve fabrication issues for many kind of products. From food and beverage field to heavy duty machinery and aerospace.

The smallest jig I designed was for a handle of 150 grams. The heavier a 120 ton hemispherical bottom.

As I founded jigafix with some friends, we started to devise and design welding jigs for customers around the world.
What I like the most is that our customers started to ask us to teach their people the welding jigs design.
For training people on the fabrication floor, on the technical dept. and also product designers. Both new hired and old employees.

We did it with great passion and enthusiasm, teaching live via internet by web meeting or using the excellent Basecamp. And still do.
We are waking up anytime or stay awake late to hold the training class. Because of time zone difference! 😮

Now, we are receiving requests that we cannot manage, because of the limited time to do so.
A lot from people like you, striving for designing new devices for the production or new welded products.

So, we decided to make a further step ahead.
We are arranging all the best parts of our live classes to build a course just for you.

Our final purpose is to build a community of people that each and every day are faced to develop, devise, design welding jig. People that wants to find the best fitting solution for their current challenge. Either for robotic welding, manual welding, TIG, MIG, LASER, you name it..

Frankly speaking, works are in progress but the course is not yet ready. We are collecting interest around our project and request for more topics.

CHAPTER 1 Overview about the welding jig design

  1. The assembly to weld (the welding job), analysis of the technical requirements;
  2. The welding jig:

CHAPTER 2 Preliminary analysis

    • Assembly to produce (drawings, models, ecc.);
    • Kind of welding (robotic, manual, technology);
    • Lot size a production volume;
  2. How to define the sequence of the operations:
    • Hypothesis about insertion and extraction of the welded product;
    • Fixed and mobile constraints and …
  3. How to manage assembly variants.

CHAPTER 3 The layout

  1. Strategy for achieving the better productivity

    • When it is better to split operations into more steps

CHAPTER 4 Modelling of the welding jig
